I love Ben&Jerry's ice creams

Hello you gorgeous people!
Are you as excited as me about the upcoming winters? Everyone here seems to be getting more grim by the day and huddling in groups, grumbling as the winters FINALLY set in while I am the only person who is running around giggling like a 5 year old who ate too much sugar with his cereal. Really, whatever happened to that spirit, people?
My being so overly gleeful, if you ask me, is completely justified.
Which fashionista here isn't dying to strut around in that gorgeous trench coat or those marvelous booties that she snagged just before the last piece was sold? None, I presume.

Here are some of my favorite trends for this winter....

... Lace

Does anything say "chic" and "sexy" at the same time better than lace?
If you had asked for my take on lace a few months back, I would probably have wretched and asked for a bucket to puke my guts out in. Oh, don't look at me like that. Yes, it is something I still don't believe I felt but that doesn't change that fact that it is true.
However, this is one trend that has most definitely grown on me. I love the way that lace can be part of a whole outfit and give it that "va-va-voom" or just be a part of it's intricate detailing that makes an outfit ever so sophisticated.

... Leather

Nothing is more effortlessly cool than a cropped leather jacket. Nothing oozes mysteriousness better than a leather trench coat. Nothing is more "bad-girl" than a pair of leather pants. And nothing, nothings says "rebel" better than a leather dress.
Bicker-chic, here I come.

... Knits

Who needs a boyfriend when you can snuggle up in a cosy cardigan, adorable knit dress or cutesy sweater near the fire and read Jane Eyre. Or Vogue.

... Lace-up Boots

Super sexy and extremely comfortable - well, the pairs that I own are, I can walk around in them for days - lace up boots are more grungy than other boots which look more refined.
I love the way I feel in my lace-ups - ultra confident and oh-so-bad-ass. ;)

And have you seen the D&G Spring/Summer 2010 collection?

Extremely "country-goes-urban chic" collection, I loved the way they have experimented with lots of denim pieces and I love the shoes but some of the dresses and skirts looked a tad bit too much like dead sheep to me. The Pocahontas-esque outfits were gorgeous as were the jackets and trench coats.
On the whole, I was highly disappointed by this collection - the color palette was ever so boring, the outfits seemed very "eh" and none of the pieces in this collection really got to me, there was not one piece that I knew I just had to have, someday if not right away. I did like the pouffy, white top quite a bit though.

So lovelies, spill. What are the trends you are crushing on this winter? And what did you think of the D&G S/S 2010 collection?

Is it just me or is coming up with titles even harder than writing the post itself?

Hey all! How are you gorgeous people? I know I haven't posted in forever, so here goes!

So we all ADORE Tom Ford, right? The man exudes coolness what with his ultra chic sunglasses and super sleek, right-out-of-James-Bond suits.
And news is, brace yourself ladies, that he going to be designing a women's collection which is set to be out by fall 2010! I know, I shrieked my lungs out too. How amazing is that?! We are all definitely in for a treat and this is one collection I cannot wait to see.

And have you guys seen Vogue's November issue? Are you drooling yet? I though as much.

Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson. All on one cover, together. Looking too-freakin'-fabulous for words. In the most beautiful outfits possible. On a beach. Really? Need I say more?

Also, is the Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2010 collection fab or what? I loved bright colors and the lamé trench-jackets? Gorgeous. Designed by John Galliano, the collection had a very sleek, urban-couture feel to it with extremely subtly extravagant pieces - all very Gossip Girl-goes-Sex in the City.

The Veronica Lane inspired hair and make-up was impeccable and couldn't possible have complimented the collection any better.

Carrying forward the socks-with-heels trend, the models wore wedge platforms with lamé ankle socks. Adorable!

Moving on. I am currently crushing on the Zuhair Murad Fall/Winter 09/10 collection. The man is a genius. I didn't really know of Zuhair Murad till I saw the gorgeous gown that Miley Cyrus wore to the Oscars this year and I have been hooked ever since.

Have you seen anything more magnificent? Have you?

His not-so-subtle collections are always very dramatic and fairy tale-like with flowing, often diamanté-encrusted gowns - every piece in his undeniably striking collections seem like the kind of things the "rich, famous and fabulous" would wear.
With lots of draped pieces in silk and chiffon, this collection has the most marvelous, rich colors, ranging from deep reds and emerald greens to slightly more conservative creams and whites. I have always found his work to be very exotic and you can really see the effort that has gone into making each every one of these divine pieces.

I may not be the most girly girl in the block but really, every girl wants to feel like a princess at least once in her lifetime, right? And nothing says "Glamour Goddess" better than one of these exquisite gowns. ;)

So what is your take on this collection? Do you love it or is it a tad bit too out there for you?

Dolce & Gabbana

Ever since it was founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in 1985, this fashion house has been a huge success not only in Milan, the city where it all started, but also around the world. Synonymous with eternally-chic collections, Dolce & Gabbana has two central lines - Dolce&Gabbana and D&G.
While Dolce&Gabbana has more sophisticated collections, D&G has a fun and playful element to it with outfits that are more suited for a younger generation as opposed to it's contemporary line that targets a slightly older group of buyers.
Besides having stellar runway shows, ad campaigns are extremely important for any fashion house - a good ad campaign, according to me, can get to you to places that a good runway show can't. Known for it's provocative ad campaigns, this is something that Dolce & Gabbana has fully understood with impeccably shot ad campaigns for just about as long as I can remember.
Here are some of my favorites up till now...

Spring 2004 - in contrast with the uber-sophisticated outfits, the shoot has a very hippie edge to with. Shot in the middle of a forest in autumn, this ad campaign reminded me a lot of something that was probably inspired by "A Midsummer Nights Dream".

Fall/Winter 2005 - The clothes had a very "old-school mod" feel to them while the photos were very laid-back and grungy. I love how two very different elements were combined in such a way that the photos didn't look too overdone or too casual - it was just the right amount of both which resulted in a brilliant set of photos for their 2005 ad campaign.

2007 Fall/Winter - This collection was easily one of my favorites and the Grecian feel to the photos exudes classiness.

Spring/Summer 2008 - Gemma Ward. Lily Donaldson. Jessia Stam. Gorgeous tie-and-dye ensembles. Need I say more?

Fall/Winter 2008 - Somewhat morbid yet still gorgeous beyond belief, these photos had a dark side to them that seemed just right for these outfits.

Autumn/Winter 2009 - Space-age fabulosity shot by Steven Klein.

So are you drooling yet? Are you wishing you had a millionaire daddy with pots full of money to get you at least one of these ultra fab outfits? Though as much. ;)

So what did you guys think? Which was your favorite?

Zac Posen S/S 2010

With a more or less nude palette dominating the runways this season, Zac Posen provided a refreshing change with a series of quirky ensembles in bright reds, pinks, oranges, greens -  every color that shouts "look at me". Ranging from clear tinted raincoats to maxi dresses, the whole collection has a very space-age hippie feel to it.
The brightly hued fringe-trimming on some of the outfits was a tad bit too garish for my taste - the whole collection was highly disappointing, if you ask me.

After giving us the extremely tasteful and stylish pieces like these

to give us outfits like these is just plain abysmal.

The colors are absolutely ghastly and even though I love the print of the black and green mini, it doesn't change the fact that it screams "Wardrobe Malfunction". Had it been a couture collection, the fact that the collection is highly unwearable would sill be acceptable but this Read-to-Wear collection, according to me, is not quite ready to be worn.
The lattice detailing in some of the dresses was interesting and I quite liked the colorful maxi-dresses that, unlike mot of the collection, I would love to wear.

This baby pink embellished dress was easily the most horrendous item of clothing I have seen and the slit down the center does nothing to help to already disastrous outfit.

This collection had some great pieces and some not-so-great, to say the least.
In itself, it isn't entirely abominable but when compared to it's contemporary collections like Burberry and Pucci that have such utterly mind blowing pieces, it isn't much either.

What is your take on this collection, lovelies?

Working it Posh

We know her as a pop star.
We know her as the wife of football hottie, David Beckham.
We know has as the badass soccer mom who plays football with her kids in 6 inch Louboutins. (No one ever said she was the smartest soccer mom!)
We know her as the fabulous fashionista who owns a collection of Birkins worth more than $2 million.
Now we know her as the woman who designed these absolutely gorgeous dresses.
Victoria Beckham's Dress Collection of A-line dresses are a "testament to a love of fashion and the female form".
With only 400 pieces and 10 designs and a color pallet consisting of blacks, whites, greys and blues, all the dresses are extremely sophisticated and très chic
Even though they seem like the kind of outfits that will look good only on uber-tall, uber-skinny girls(read : Gisele Bundchen) and even though there seems to be an awful lot of squeezing into involved with getting into one of these super-tight fitted dresses, I have a feeling it should be worth it.
Not very recession friends, all of these limited edition dresses cost above $1000 but still seem to be a huge hit with people - there were only three pieces left at the end of their first day on sale. Apparently, there is also a waiting list for the styles yet to arrive in February next year.

"The collection was inspired by the femininity and sophistication of the mid-century silhouette. I've always been drawn to intricate, seam-detailed designs as their structure enhances the flattering shape of a woman's silhouette." says the new designer on the block.

The crochet work on the top gives it such a old-school-glam feel.

This is one of my favorite pieces as the black has a very biker-chic edge to it while the grey and black in the same design is more soft and feminine.

I love the way the corset has been incorporated into the dress.
Worn with black or nude pumps, these dresses are sure to leave you looking stellar no matter what the occasion.

I for one was extremely surprised to see ensembles like these from Mrs. Beckham. It isn't the most edgy collection. It isn't the most gorgeous collection from all the collections we have seen on the runways this season. It probably won't be the first thing you will notice if showcased in a room full of designer collections. But it is definitely something - the dresses ooze classiness and can look, if you have the right body, uber sexy.

What do you think, lovelies? Fab or drab?
